Midwest Climate Fundamentals Academy (Workshop #1 of 2)

Produced and offered in partnership with Cook County, Metropolitan Mayors Caucus and Metropolitan Planning Council, ACCO is offering a series of 2-day training academies in Chicago to help participants build competencies to effectively integrate climate change into their decision-making and professional activities. Leveraging a blended learning approach consisting of self-study online training and in-person cohort training, this series provides participants with training that will prepare them for Certified Climate Change Professional® (CC-P®) credential exams and will satisfy the corresponding elective requirements.

Series participants will learn from experts about the implications of climate change with a regional focus added for Chicago and the Midwest. Professionals across occupations in the public and private sectors, higher education and the NGO community will benefit from this training series.

Class #1 (February 25-26, 2019):

  • Day 1: Climate Science & Vulnerability Assessment

    • Climate-103: The Basics of Sea Level Rise and Impacts on Coastal Assets & Infrastructure

    • Climate-104: Public Health Implications of Climate Change

    • Climate-201: Identifying Climate Hazards & Conducting Vulnerability Assessments

    • Climate-202: Leveraging Climate Data & Tools

  • Day 2: GHG, Energy & Water Management

    • GHG-101: Basics of GHG Accounting, Reporting & Disclosing GHG Emissions

    • GHG-102: Fundamentals of the Energy-Water-Food Nexus

    • GHG-201: Establishing GHG Reduction Goals & GHG Management Structures
